Reepham Learning Community has successfully tendered for a
third European Social Funded taster. Funded by the Learning and Skills
Council - Norfolk extended Learning Pathway will provide 350 people with an
opportunity to access 'free' learning in a number of different subject areas.
Places are limited so priority will be given to those who are 19 years of age
and over, have not got many formal qualifications and have been out of learning
for 3 years or more.
Offered as a package of learning of up to 30 hours
you can access a number of different types of taster courses.
Things on offer include -
'Getting to grips with' - a series of tasters that
follow the following themes -

Self improvement tasters -
time and self management, work skills - including an analysis of what
you can do best, brushing up on the basics -
* Reading and writing for success
* Working with numbers
* Move on tasters - improving, in a range of subjects

Computers -
Building on the success of our introductory computing courses this
taster covers all the basics as on longer course-
* Word processing
* Internet
* Email
* Web design
* Downloading music
* Digital images
-
Business skills - a
compilation of all that's useful in business - pick and mix from the
following-
* Health and Safety
* Basic Food Hygiene
* First Aid
* communications for work including letters and emails, speaking and
explaining, dealing with difficult customers, handling complaints etc.

Health and fitness - how
healthy are you? Do you need to get to grips with your diet, exercise,
mental state (stress)? Then this taster could be the one for you.

Languages - try
the basics in Spanish, French or Italian!

Other things on offer include -
How our children learn - a course that
provides an insight into the world of learning from a child's perspective. Why
is it that some people learn better in a noisy, unstructured environment and
other need complete peace and quiet? Why is it that some people can grasp
numbers better than words? And some prefer to write their thoughts down, whilst
others paint, draw and act? This course provides an insight into the world of learning
and provides a taste of the learning experience for us too. This taster suitable
for all people who support children with their learning.
Extended Learning Pathway will be successfully completed by
December 2007
