[ Let's Get Learning ] [ Links to Learning ] [ Extended Learning Pathway ]
Most of these things have been offered to
people in the area free of charge. We can do this because we receive
grants and sponsorship from the Learning and Skills Council, Norfolk
County Council and the Norfolk Learning Partnership amongst others. We
also get money from the European Social Fund (ESF),

Study - Nancy |
 |
Nancy has two young children and is a key member of the parent-toddler group
in her local village as well as sitting on the committee of a nearby
playgroup and supporting events at her son's school - not much time to
spare for anything else! So it was especially good to see Nancy learn a new
craft by making a mosaic at the Family Seasonal Learning Day we held in
November 2004. Then Nancy came along to a 'How Our Children Learn' taster
session 'great to learn about how it all works' she commented. Nancy
has gone on to enroll on a term-long course called 'Choosing the Way' that
helps with decisions about returning to work.

| Michelle first came with her children to a Family Learning
Day organised by Reepham Learning Community in May 2003. Michelle took a
qualification in English which was offered at an event in June 2004 and
got a Level One qualification at the first attempt. She then enrolled on
an Introduction to Computers taster course with 'Lets Get Learning' that
was held at her local village and then joined the longer Adult Education
course, 'is is friendly an local and the tutor is very patient with all
our questions'. Michelle has also attended another tester course
entitled How out Children Learn', she is keen to join the longer
accredited course as soon as it is offered in this area. Michelle has
since gone on to signup for an Open University course and has continued
to turn to Reepham Learning Community for advice about learning support,
for herself and her family. She has been a great participant in the
Learning Community!
Like Michelle we hope you will find out activities of use to you! |

on a computer course with Adult Education and has now got a part time work
as a PA. She has also pursued another passion by joining a course at
Easton College on beekeeping, and her first bees have recently arrived!

| Diane from 'Diane's Pantry' in Reepham came on our
Introduction to Computers course at Reepham High School.
Diane had wanted to do a computer course for a few years and
finally this one was available locally and being held in the
evenings. She enjoyed the taster session because "it started
with the basics" and she has gone on to the CLAIT course run by
Adult Education.
Her final remark was "Thanks to Lara for persuading
me!" |

From the 'Harrowing Times' a monthly
newsletter from the Norfolk Smallholders Training Group.

| Sarah is a smallholder who
attended our Food Hygiene course in Sparham and gave this review:
"I have to say how enjoyable the day was - even sitting the
examination at the end of the day wasn't too stressful - considering
it's 27 years since I last sat an exam!! (RSA) Not being the
academic sort I would highly recommend others like myself to contact
RLC and find out what other courses they run."
Since achieving Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, Sarah is keen to
do further training. |
